A Round-Table Discussion with the major agro-food importers of Nepal

The Consulate organized a Round-Table Discussion with the major agro-food importers of Nepal on 12th December, 2017 at Birgunj in association with Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries & Association of Nepalese Importers of Rice, Pulses & Oil Industries with an objective to promote Indian exports of agricultural products to Nepal. Opening the discussions, Consul General gave an overview of India's one billion dollar (approximately) agro-food trade with Nepal, challenges arising due to rapid growth in bilateral trade, increasing network of mega-food parks, cold-chain projects, quality control and certification institutes in India, growing demand for branded food products, growing volume of India's global exports of agriculture products, including organic food products, revolutionary policy & infrastructural developments in bringing down the cost of logistics, expeditious clearance of exports/imports at various Ports/ICD/ Airports and continuous improvement in trade infrastructure.
