3rd International Day of Yoga at hotel Vishuwa, Birgunj, Nepal

Celebrations of the 3rd International Day of Yoga.

The Consulate General of India, Birgunj organized several yoga camps and seminars culminating with a mega event at Birgunj to mark the celebrations of the 3rd International Day of Yoga. Twelve Yoga & Ayurveda awareness camps were held in various schools in associations with the District Ayurveda Health Centre, Birgunj spanning from 2-3 days to one week in each school. About 4000 students and teachers participated in these camps.

A mega event for celebrations of International Day of Yoga was organized on 21st June in Birgunj. About 3000 people including Chief District Officers, MPs, Ex-Ministers, Superintendents of Police & Armed Forces, principals and teachers of a dozen of schools, representatives of various business communities, Birgunj Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Art of Living, Brahma Kumari, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Radha Madhav Samiti, District Health Centre, National Medical College, Ladies Club, Lions' Club, students and important people in Birgunj participated in the event. The programme included brief speeches, yoga and meditation sessions and concluded with Shanti Mantras. A few selected photographs by eminent photographer Vinay Bahl were exhibited at the site.

A procession of more than 2000 school students carrying banners on celebration of International Day of Yoga on the main street of Birgunj was organized in the early morning of 21st June.

To commemorate the celebrations, the Consulate took out a special publication "Yoga & Ayurveda for Well-being". Copies of the publication were distributed among all the participants at the mega event.

A seminar was also organized on 21st June on Yoga, Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine. Eminent speakers from Art of Living, Brahma-Kumaris Rajyog Sewa Kendra, Naturopathy Hospital, District Ayurveda Health Centre, National Medical College and Radha Madhav Samiti shared valuable information with the audience. The Consulate organized on-line quiz contests and awarded four prizes to the winners at the end of the seminar.
