68th Republic Day of India at CGI, Birgunj

The 68th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the CGI, Birgunj on 26th January 2017. The celebrations was attended by over 800 persons including Indian nationals, PIOs, Chief District Officer, SPs of Parsa and Bara Districts, MPs and Ex-Ministers, distinguished Nepalese citizens, academicians and office bearers of Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Birgunj, Janakpur, Makwanpur, Chitwan, members of Nepal India Friendship Associations and students from various schools. 2. After hoisting the national flag, the Consul General read out the President’s address to the Nation. Two school buses, gifted by the Government of India to Nepalese educational institutions, were handed over on the occasion. Students of a dozen of local schools and colleges presented colourful and scintillating cultural programs based on patriotic songs reflecting the grandeur and cultural diversity of India. 3. The event, including gifting of buses by GoI, was given wide pre-publicity through local media, including print media, local radio stations and TV channels. Thirteen local dailies carried out Consul General’s Republic Day message and Press Release on development assistance to Nepal. Several Nepal India Friendship Associations in the jurisdiction of the Consulate have scheduled celebration of Republic Day of India during the day.
