Initiating its efforts to promote trade, tourism and cultural relations between the various states of India with Nepal, Consulate General of India, Birgunj in association with respective district units of Chamber of Commerce & Industries organized Presentation on trade, tourism and cultural opportunities on North Eastern States in India and also cultural performance by Thoibi Manipur Dance & Cultural Research Institute, Manipur, India at Janakpur, Dhanusha District and Birgunj, Parsa District on Jan 23 & 24, 2017 respectively. 2. On this occasion, Documentary films on trade, business and investment opportunities were screened and adequate materials i.e Flexi Banners & Brochures on these subjects were displayed and distributed. 3. The Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and civil aviation Mr. Jiwan Bahadur Shahi and Mr. B.C Pradhan, Consul General jointly inaugurated the event at Janapur, whereas at Birgunj the function was jointly inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister for peace & Reconstruction Smt. Sita Devi Yadav and Shri Pradhan. 4. At these places, the cultural troupe from Manipur presented folk dances/songs depicting diverse culture of Manipur to lawmakers, Officers from local administration, academicians, social & business personalities and people of cross section of society including large number of women & children. 5. Local cultural artists from Janakpur & Birgunj also performed alongside with the Indian cultural troops. Performing at a single platform provided opportunities to these cultural troops to share and exchange their respective cultural diversities. Such event would go a long way in furthering our age-old cultural relations and deepen our people to people contacts. 6. The programme evoked overwhelming response from the participants.
