This Guest House facility at the India-Nepal border in Raxaul was built by the Britishers in early 1900s. When Embassy of India, Kathmandu was established in 1947, it was given control of this facility and named Indian Embassy Bungalow. With the opening of Consulate General of India at Birgunj in February 2004, the administrative control of IEB was transferred to the Consulate in October 2005.
The convenient location of IEB and the quality of facilities available make it the place of choice for stay of political leaders, senior officers of the central and state government and PSU officials etc. who visit or transit through Raxaul and other nearby areas. The bungalow underwent major repairs and facelift in the year 2008 to facilitate comfortable stay of the dignitaries.
IEB, built on a 23 acre plot, has two suite rooms with a kitchen. The Mini Bungalow has four small rooms suitable for stay of accompanying staff of the VIPs. IEB compound also has a temple, mango & litchi gardens and quarters for the staff.
